Hi all,
I'm trying to edit a map with the Giants Editor, but I have a problem with road signs.

I've seen that in the scenegraph panel they are made of several pieces, so I tried to duplicate (ctrl+D) the entire file.
The problem is that in the editor they look stright, but once loaded the map in-game, they are on the ground and I can't figure out how to make them stand upright.

Can anyone help me?

Sorry for my bad english

Hi,

you probably did not copy the whole sign.

e.g.:
+ seSignInfoLeft
+ seSignInfoLeft_joint
+ seSignArrow_col
+ seSignInfoLeft_vis

just copy/duplicate "seSignInfoLeft" and it should work

Cheers
Emil

Thanks for the reply
I tried to make another attempt, but the result is always the same.

I duplicate the file "seSignFallingRocks" and just moved it slightly to the left. But this is the result once loaded the map.

On the right the signal by default, on the left the one that I have created.

Hi,

so I gave it a try - for me it does work like a charme.

I could duplicate a sign (Ctrl+D) or Copy/Paste it (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V).
Both ways worked - the sign was standing like a rock in game until i crashed it with my tractor ;)

Following just some thoughts:
- make sure you are using the latest version of GE
- allthough there should be no difference, you could test both version of GE (32bit and 64bit).
- make sure you are not changing any attributes

Cheers

Thanks again.
I tried one more time, but for some reason it still doesn't work for me.

Anyway I found another solution, I raised slightly the collision layer to lift it over the ground level and now everything works perfectly.

Now I have another problem, I'm trying to make the new PDA map of my map, so I created a new camera and I placed above the map (by translating Y to 2000 and rotating X to -90) to make a screenshot, the problem is that I can't see the main road.
I tried to lower the terrain height, raise the roads level and also increase the clip distance of the roads, but I still can't see them.

Do you have any suggestion ?

Hi,

perfect :)

As you suggested the "clip distance" is maybe an issue.
The camera might be still to far away from the road.
Try to further increase the clip distance of the road.

But the road is partly visible on the screenshot (lower half of the map).
Note: teh road is splitted into several pieces and you have to adjust the clip distance for each of them

Cheers

Does the sign have brakeable joint?

Emil Drefers (Unknown) 03.02.2015 10:21
Hi,

yes, they do have breakable joints.

Cheers,
Emil
