Hi there. I was wondering if any has had any experience with maya LT. I guess it just for game devs. I use blender right now but if the maya LT would blow blender out the water and its really cheap to have for a year. The reason why I would switch is because you cant skin hoses in blender. I love having skinned hoses on my mods for realism look. But idk if you can even export out of maya LT to ge

Hi,

without having tested it, I would say it works.
But, I'm really not sure ;)

You might also check if the student version of maya is applicable for you.

Just try to install the exporter with the default installer programm (download section).
If that does not work, you still can try to install the exporter plugin manually (documentation)

Cheers,
Emil

Yeah rite..." would blow blender out the water" same way a kite would blow F-22 out of the water.I'm not being biased in witchever direction here.Beside it is like comparing apples and oranges- one is orange the other kind of sux. And how many bending hoses do you really need? Isn't that kinda suspicious ?

Hi Gabe :)

If you choose to try LT, could you please post an update?

Would be nice to know if you get GE Exporter to work.

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

Maya LT doesn't support 3th party plugins like the GE Exporter. We can't support Maya LT because Autodesk removed the plugin APIs in the LT edition. You could use FBX to export. GE can read FBX files.

Best,
Chris

Thanks for clearing that up, Christian :)

Are there any limitations to using the FBX option with Giants Editor?

Or will it work just as good with Maya LT as your Maya exporter does with the full version of Maya?

All the best!
