you can find the script documentation here:
There are different options of assigning a 'particle effect' to the trigger.
In the end you could take the existing particle effect an dexport it to .obj.
Next edit the .obj in a 3d modeling program such that you get what you want.
(Pay attention to set the right material attributes for export)
Finally, adjust the user attributes of teh trigger to load the new .i3d
