Does anyone else have a problem with rotating objects?
After a while, just rotate the object around Gizmon and you save and restart the editor, it works to rotate gizmon with the object until it suddenly stops working and only the object rotates around gizmon.
Have a nice day!

Yes I've had the gizmo go to some odd mode, but I thought it was because accidental wrong key press while moving camera :)

Unfortunately Giants keyboard shortcut list hasn't been updated (since 2013) to reflect all the new functions and some of the original ones sometimes cause problems for example Ctrl -R (Pick replace value in viewport (Terrain edit modes)) will crash the editor if inadvertently pressed when no terrain present.

Almost sounds like you accidentally went into "framed rotate." It happens sometimes.

Would you happen to know why it's in "framed rotate" and do you know how to turn it off?

edit: with the previous proviso regarding accuracy of the shortcuts

I wouldn't know why it's in that mode (if it is at all), it can happen accidentally. It can be turned on and off by right clicking anywhere in the viewport and checking/unchecking the menu option, or through the "view" menu at the top of the screen. And the list Colin provided is a great resource for learning the shortcut keys to speed up your workflow and avoid these situations in the future.
