Field textures show PDA terrain like the Shroud of Turin

I'm in the editor and field tiles are glitching as I get near them.. in game they are black and unworkable and in the editor they will have an actual imprint of the PDA Map terrain on the tiles.. does anyone know what I did wrong?
It's a new map i'm creating . When I try and delete and redo the fields, they appear black and the paint circle is offset from the pointer. When I get in close to the fields in the editor, the PDA contours appear, not colours, only the terrain contours as well as a tiny US flag... every 20 feet or so in straight lines, across each field.
I would appreciate any advice or help as I'm two months into this map and would love to save it. Is there a simple way to delete and redo fields other than by the foliage brush? Are there files i could delete and perhaps rebuild the fields? I cant explain how my terrain contours are showing up on my field tiles but its true.. I have a feeling there's some mixed up files and perhaps there is a way I can delete them out and rebuild them all again.
Is there anyone who could help me? I've posted on three FS17 support forums with no luck..
