Why does the grass in decofoliage go from beautiful green to dead brown in
one short stroke of paint brush?

Tony Price (brownthumb) 08.12.2018 22:41
anyone?

its not only the deco grass but the regular grass that goes from green patches to brown patches as you paint it across map.
anyone know why? and can it be fixed?

Check your counsle in GE and your game log for errors

Check your DensityMaps.txt file in the SDK and make sure you have your bitwise ticks set right. It sounds almost like you have a growth rate setting set for grass for some reason. These settings are still a tad squirrelly even in the Beta GE 8.1 which I'm using.

no errors in GE log or game log, map is the US map taken from game as mod map by
using editor, deleted everything except start point, placeholders, and one field,
flattened map to 100 cleaned off all grass, bushes, painted all terrain with GRASS
option then painted complete map with foliage layer grass with layer state as green
big, which is layer 4, and that is leaving the map covered with grass that is green
in spots light green in spots and brown in spots, also did the DE map the same way,
there is no brown or light colors on it just green on the whole map, also removed
tipcol and farmland paint from each map, no changes.

Okay, Tony, I'll see if I get the same results as I'll hopefully have the time to play with that in my US clone map this weekend. Been removing, changing, and adding to my base farm so far. I have a feeling, because the editor doesn't, as yet, seem to export well, we are going to have to manually resolve this until we can figure out what the problem might be, and hopefully, Giants will b paying attention, or solve it in the meantime.

If you open editor and go to New Mod from Game and get the USmap (or mod map 2) and look in mapUS file folder you
will NOT see a grassFlowers_color file or a grassFlowers_mask file as you did in the fs17 version of the us map.
but if you go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Farming Simulator 2019\data\maps\mapUS you will see above mentioned color
and mask files, in the fs17 version it was simple to get rid of the red, white and blue stripes in the grass by
deleting color and mask part from the grass materials in the mapi3d file. In the FS19 USmod map there is no reference
to the grass materials or the grassFlowers_color or the grassFlowers_mask files in the MapUSi3d file.
