Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with GE 8.1.0 Beta x64 loading up and then having the editing screen turn black after a few seconds. It's not the entire screen but just the section where a model or map would show. This is frustrating because GE is rendered useless while this issue is occurring. I have no errors on the GE log and have updated drivers as well as a fairly high-end desktop I am running it on. If anyone has any ideas or would like me to post my log I will.

Thanks

1. post the complete editor log.
2. what mod/map do you want to open?

I've only tried opening default game models.

1. Disable (temporarily) cloud storage, like eg. OneDrive, SteamCloud or similar.
2. Disable gfx utilities like Nvidia Experience, AMD Gaming App, Steam Overlay or similar.
3. Delete the GE shader cache (USER\AppData\Local\GIANTS Editor 64bit 8.xx\shader_cache\..)
4. Start a blank GE (no file)
5. Make sure in GE preferences the path to FS game is setup properly.
6. Load an example i3d from game defaults.
Does it work now?

I disabled OneDrive, made sure Nvidia Experience was disabled, deleted the shader cache did steps 4, 5, and 6. It's still doing the same thing. The model in GE shows up for half a second and then the part of the screen that shows the model turns black.

I'm afraid a Windows10 update has broken something. Was not the first time.
Try running the GE in admin mode and several compatibility settings.

Also check the gfx driver for unusual settings. This is also often overwritten by updates.

I tried running GE as admin in Windows Vista, 7, and 8. It is a little better now, due to the fact that screen stays showing a mod or the grid now until I move my mouse. Not sure what would be causing that......

Might be certain Windows gfx settings causes this.
Try with a standard desktop, no Aero design, eg. Windows classic.

Also could be a background program what conflicts with the GE.
Run the Windows task monitor and 'kill' suspicious processes. If you're unsure about process, google for it - to avoid system crash.

I figured it out. It seems to be either MSI afterburner or Riveria Tuner Statistic that causes the screen to go black. When I have both of those apps closed and relaunch GE it works perfectly fine.
