Hello,

I got a small problem with the new Giants Editor 9.0.1.
If I try to open a map it builds everything normal and everything is visible with textures and so on.

The only thing that seems to be missed is the terrain. According to the Scenegraph it should be there but it isn't visible.
For example grass just stands in the air.

It is also on various maps the same problem.
I think it is just a prefence or vision setting which is wrong.
But maybe somebody can help me.

I'm having the same error. It seems like it should be a simple fix, but i'm pretty new to this.

Game update broke GE, you can only wait foe update.

Emanuel Schäffauer (Emanuel83) 16.12.2021 22:50
Same here, patch 1.2 broke maps in GE9. Doesn't matter if you create a new mod map from game or you had your map in work before. All broken until Giants sorts this out an releases a fix.. cheers

I hope this doesn't damage our progress on the Giants (W.I.P. map).

Zac Broomfield (Zulu1) 17.12.2021 08:43
How typically inconvenient, this means that unless they release an update quickly a lot of us won't be able to work on maps for the whole start of the holidays when we actually have time spare. I've told people that I would get my map recreating their farm done before we meet at the end of December so let's hope it gets fixed soon.

this Error comes with the 1.2 Update, maybe its becouse the terrainShader.

@ Daniel this error seems new, the common error from patch 1.2 see below. Your error seems a bool variable cannot be converted into an integer variable. Bool is normally 0 or 1 meaning false or true and integer is a value e.g. -32787 to 32787. In coding such convertions are happening often seems something was messed up, but i would also assume the failure in relation with the 1.2
Please everybody log a ticket for Giants, I am not sure if we are heard here

This seems to be the common failure type after 1.2:
Error: Failed to compile shader xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Error: Could not parse GISL program.
(xxx): ERROR: 'uint' : syntax error syntax error

Giants did reply now to the GE9 issues regarding terrain in maps:
We need an update to the GE9 which is is not yet released (maybe next week).

Currently only workaround would be following:
In the meantime you can fix the issue by poining the "Game Installation" path to a FS22 1.1. installation.

You can change the game version of your installation 1.1 like so:
PC DVD/GIANTS Digital Version: Hold 'Shift' while starting the game, wait for a dialog to open and enter 'old' as the password. Click 'Get Branches', then selection 'release1.1' in the version drop down and click 'save'.
Steam Version: In the Steam Client, go to the game Properties, Tab Betas and select 'release1.1' in the drop down

but before releasing patches, updates, the game, etc. don't they try? I think not

Emanuel Schäffauer (Emanuel83) 17.12.2021 15:48
Who knows what did happen... I would rather say the were aware of what will happen on the GE9 but could not finish to release the update for GE9 at the same time as 1.2...
I would see this as poor execution but if it gets really fixed 100% next week for me I feel fine with this... Of course from a perspective of Quality management etc. this is not how it should be...

I am looking for a solution to the Invisible Terrain in giants editor 64 bit V. 9.0.1 problem. but I see my guess was right. After updating the game to version 1. 2. We're waiting for a patch for the editor, hopefully it won't affect the work we've done with the maps.

William Rowe (Bonger76) 17.12.2021 17:50
Emanuel, I tried the "PC DVD/GIANTS Digital Version: Hold 'Shift' while starting the game, wait for a dialog to open and enter 'old' as the password. Click 'Get Branches', then selection 'release1.1' in the version drop down and click 'save'."

but I when I click 'Get Branches' it stops responding and crashes?

William Rowe (Bonger76) 17.12.2021 20:11
Got it, just not patient enuff.

Thanks

Emanuel Schäffauer (Emanuel83) 18.12.2021 07:58
@William, very strange for me it did work, at least at a test map, I have steam but would not assume that there should be a difference... Anyhow I will not apply this on my working map because I feel not too comfortable with this workaround. As mentioned this recommendation did came from Stegei from Giants...

I also have some fears if the upcoming patch for GE9 is really 100% fixing this... Giants need to be more carefully which such patches in the future because I want to be sure that my progress is not destroyed with a new game patch. I don't want my efforts beeing thrown in the trash can... this is no good pratice...

S Richardson (Uncle8ill) 18.12.2021 10:54
If you are on Steam just opt in to the v1.1 Beta to roll back the game version, you can then use GE no problem and test your maps in 1.1.
Then just update the Game to 1.2 to play online with your server.
It is a 2.4gb change each time so I only recommend this constant update/downgrade for those with a quick/unlimited internet.

GE will get fixed at some point. Modding is all about work arounds! ;)

William Rowe (Bonger76) 18.12.2021 17:34
Emanuel, got it work just took time for it to down load the old 1.1. version, like S Richardson this down loading is a long time with slow
internet speed,it took 4 hours to down load the 1.2 ,then another 2 hour to go back next time I'm going to down load the .exe file.
What giants cuold do is put something in the patch channel log notes.

I dont think that the Editor patch will not have any negitive effect on your modded map,one thing I'm going to is make shure all my shaders open from
$data/shaders because this where Giants will be fixing some problems by tweeking thier shaders, thats the problem now I think they ajusted the
terrian shader and GE9 can't read it.I would think that Giants makes a scipt to read the new shader to make thier changes then put the change into the new GE9 patch.

Do giants software even know about this ERROR

Emanuel Schäffauer (Emanuel83) 20.12.2021 09:10
yes Giants is aware of this error,
https://forum.giants-software.com/viewtopic.php?f=963&t=185370#p1452214
Assume this week we get an update for the GE9

Reuel Hoffman (doctorspooky) 15.02.2022 20:27
Now getting it in `.0.2. I guess I will not play FS until it gets fixed - I really need to remove some stuff in a mod map that can't be removed otherwise!
