Hi All

I am new to creating 3d objects and textures for mods.
I use
Blender 3.6.15
Giants Exporter 9.1.0

I am trying to create custom normal map texture but I am Facing issue.
It looks all ok in Blender but not in i3d.

How to recreate issue
1. Open blender and save scene with default cube
2. In shading add bevel(8 samples, 0.01 radius) to normal of the material. Use default UV map or create new by Smart UV project
3. Switch renderer to Cycles and check appearance in rendering view. Cube has fake soft edges.
4. Change sapless to 10 and bake Normal map texture.
5. Save new image as .png
6. Remove bevel node from maerial. Feed new baked texture to normal node of material using NormalMap object
7. Check appearance in rendering view. Cube has fake soft edges.
8. Export i3d. all going ok (set as per tutorial video)
9. Open new i3d and fake sof edges are not on cube edges but in the faces of the cube

I tried whatever came to my mind bud got no result. Still the same :(
Can you help me? what I am doing wrong?

Do you have SCALE set to ZERO for the cube mesh in Blender before exporting?

PeterK121 07.10.2024 18:48
Hi
I believe yes, It is default blender 2m cube without any change to object itself. Scale on all axis is set to 1

Try adjusting the Bump Depth to 0.5 in the i3d file and see if it makes it better.
Try adding default specular image.

Well, som progress but still not good enough I think
Adding default spectacular map added gloss only
Adjusting Bump dept in Giant editor has positive effect of moving edged to the actual edge but I do not think it looks right.
There is still very sharp edge. It looks like edge is smooth but the very sharp bump is sticking out of it.

was you able to reproduce it?
can it be issues of UV map?

What process did you use to create the normal map image?

I was able to reproduce the same result. Not sure how to fix the issue.

I'm hoping the FS25 Blender i3d exporter will help with normal map creation.

I have baked it in Belender as described in 1st post
