Hello all :)

If some of the Giants' staff is reading this... Will you provide the modding community with an updated exporter for FS19?

Cheers

Go to 'Downloads' tab, look for 'Exporter' section, there you will find 'Blender Exporter Plugins v8.0.0'.

While installing, select correct blender version. But you may need to install it manually, because automatic installation could be corrupted (it was for me). Found out this workaround totally accidentally:

While installing, select version, but next click "Extract files". Choose temporary extract location, it will output zip folder 'io_export_i3d.zip'. Right click it and select 'Extract to io_export_i3d.zip' (depends on your archiving program).

Copy extracted folder 'io_export_i3d' with it's contents to 'C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.79\scripts\addons'.

Load blender, go to User preferences editor, Add-ons tab, type 'i3d' in search field, check it to enable. Done.

i can upload it if you want but it seems the 8.0 is in fact the 7.1 version. so there's no point in DLing it right now, but better waiting

Blender 2.80.0 is running a new API and the 8.0 GE was programed for 2.8 Alpha before the Api was changed even with changing the version number to 2.80.0 in the exporter addon the file structure for class registry and bpy.utility file reference names have changed i.e groups are now refered to collections in the code.

It seems as if the new Exporter v8.0.0 doesn't even work with Blender, it says "Upgrade to 2.8x required"

Version 8.0 has been around for a year, when Blender 2.8 was still in Beta. Currently Blender 2.8 was released about 3 months ago and nothing has changed yet from the Giants side. I don't even expect anything from them anymore (because sometimes it turns into a complete failure).

Did you ever read in the general forum? There are topics "Blender Exporter Plugin - Feedback". So very obviously an exporter update is on the "to do list".

However it seems more a private project of very few developers, since Giants doesn't use Blender, but 3DsMax/Maya instead. So Blender users have to wait, moaning doesn't accelerate the process.

I am currently rewriting the addon from scratch to bring it up to speed on blender 2.8 and python 3.7+ features. Mainly focusing on getting it to work as well as the old one, but with support for collections.

Bear in mind that I am in no way affiliated with Giants and only do this in my spare time. A very basic (objects and basic materials) build is on its way, hopefully sometime during february.
