Modding for FS 17

Hi – Hope you are all doing well at Giants Software :)

So, FS17 is a thing. I really look forward to it.

From an aspiring modder’s standpoint… Are you able to share some insights about how FS 17 will differ from FS 15 when it comes to modding?

Put differently: When I’m modelling now for FS 15, what should be in the back of my mind to make the conversion to FS 17 as smooth as possible?

concerning vehicles you can basically just go ahead for modeling and texturing as you have done for FS15.
The .xml files will change though.

In the FS Modding For Dummies book the recommended triangle count is as follows:

Bins/Trailers: 15,000 tris
Tractors: 25,000 tris
Larger machinery: 50,000 tris

Will this change in FS17?

genreally speaking the triangle count should be as low as possible.

But in FS15 we already have some vehicles which do not stick to this recommendation
e.g. the Deutz Agrostar has a polycount of ~50k

Eventually the recommendations are from FS13 ;)

So, you can easily create models with a higher polycount.
But it should not be ten times more ;)

Yeah, I've seen tractors built with more than 1 million triangles.

Sure, they look good. But they also take their toll on the PC performance, even though I have a pretty decent rig...

What about maps? What should I think of if I start building a map now that I want to use with FS17?

You can make a map that is meant for Farming Simulator 17, but you will have to make it for FS15 and convert it when FS17 comes out.

Sorry to bother you, but HOW do you convert it. In the editor it tells me that maps can't be converted and you get a direction to a tutorial that doesn't exist yet. It 's still under construction....!!!! I have several maps that I want to convert, but Giants tells us nothing!!!!
