Terrain layer: Exchange in the map.i3d <File fileId="xxx" filename=".../grass_diffuse.png" ../> with your wanted DDS! texture. Maybe the textures are defined multiple. So you have to exchange them all. Foliage layer: You can exchange/edit the dds textures in your map's folder "foliage". Make sure to use always the same size and dds format. |

The problem is, you can't change terrain textures (same with particles). The map won't work anymore and will cause game crash when loading. |

There's no reason why it shouldn't work. Important is, that you really use exactly the same size and DDS format. For some textures (most of DXT5) you must especially take care of the alpha channel, because some exporters save this as separate layer by default. There might be also some exporters/converters which are obsolete and don't save in a format which the Giants Engine expects. For example the GIMP DDS plugin doesn't work satisfying - it wasn't updated for long time. After my experiences, the Paint.net DDS does its job. |

I've also only experienced crashing when trying to change textures, what kind of setting should I save the dds file as? Other than DXT5. And I can see that the path in the i3d is actually for a .png, should I change that to .dds when changing textures? It didn't help with the crashing. |
