Hi,

I see that the normal weight files have been separated into 4 files, each only containing the pixel count of a 512x512 image, if I understand correctly. How would I go about converting an image to this new format?
I tried by making 4 images, 2048x2048 with 1/4 pixels white, the rest black, so I could delete 3/4 pixels of every image of the new type. They only contain white pixels of a 512px image, and all 4 combine into a normal looking 2048px image, but GE does not accept. As there're many weight files, it's simply too much work to repaint everything, when it should be very simple to convert, as all the info is right there.

I created a computer program to convert all weight files for me. Weight files are bitmaps so they can be converted to their pixel values and using linear algebra 4 maps can be made from one. What map are you trying to convert?

I've also been trying to find a way to convert the fs17 weight files into 4. @Jason Lane any chance you might be publishing or sharing your program? It would be a handy tool.

My program is written in matlab which is rather expensive. I will try to convert to c, but in the mean time if anyone has a specific map they need weight files for I'd be more than happy to set up a drop box and post files. If anyone really wants matlab code I can post it.

Oh yes matlab is a bit expensive for me, I am converting a map I had been making in fs17. If I post the weight files on dropbox would you be kind enough to convert them for me? I have tried a few ways myself but I always lost too much of the original area.

Thank you, but it didn't seem to work quite right. its very patchy. Here's a pic to show what I mean. The left pic is with the weight file from fs17 in the 01 position the right pic is using the 4 weight files you created for me. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, but its almost like its only picking up one weight file. They are all referenced in the i3d file correctly.

Your dirt and roughDirt textures appear to be the same. Your map looks to have a lot of blending, as the new editor doesnt currently support texture blending .I hope these work well let me know. I am currently working on a blending workaround at the pixel level in my program.

Thank a lot man, but I just tried the grass one, and it's giving me an error.

Error: Terrain weight map 'C:/Users/kevin/Documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator2019/mods/FS19_Windchaser_AMD/maps/mapUS/grassRough01_weight.png' size incorrect. Same size (512px) for all layers is needed

Are you saying blending will come later?
And do you know why they changed the system for this 4 texture system? Seems strange to me.

Appears to be a texture issue. The new terrain textures are 512x512.

I tested them in a blank 4x DE map with no errors.

Giants doubled the weight maps and shrunk the textures which more than doubled the pixels per unit area. The downside to this was more repetition in the texture. Their solution was to create 4 weight maps for each texture, each of them slightly different and rotated. They then alternate these textures to eliminate the appearance of a repeated texture.

To your other question. I am working on a workaround for giants blending issues in fs19. Although my luck I'll figure it out around the time giants fixes their editor

Hmm.. The basegame weight files are 2048x2048 so it should be possible somehow.

Edit: Nevermind I get it now. But how can I fix this then? Even when the weight file is 2048 it still doesn't work.. My conversion is also made from a blank map, so it should work the same I'd think.

your weights should be 4096 not sure what your texture problem is I've included a link to the entire map textures included that I ran in game with no errors in log. you can try to just replace your grass textures or compare the maps as a whole.

currently the way giants is blending is they are using the grassdirtmixde texture in between the separate grass and dirt textures. seems harder than just blending the two textures evenly.

i have this error size incorrect. Same size (2048px) for all layers is needed. I'm making a 4x map and my weights for grass/sand/asphalt are 4096px, however, giants still want these at 2048px how can I fix this?
