I am trying to remove some crops on a couple of fields at startup of the game where I have put my farm. Removed the crop, painted grass, put my driveway in, moved some trees in and launched the game and my farm is sitting in a field of canola. Everywhere that I made changes on a nonfield area are there, my driveways, my grass but when it gets to the edge of the field then the crop starts like I never done anything. Which I cannot get the crop to show up in editor which is puzzling me also.......what am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?

The GE cannot know about your savegame. So it uses the default datas for game start in the map folder.
On the other hand any later GE edits don't become actualized automatically to your savegame.
That means you have to exchange manually the essential data files between the used modmap folder and the savegame folder. Unluckily the files are often named differently in map and savegame. So you must know about the files' meaning in both folders.

There are many files to consider. So after GE edits with major changes the best way is starting a new game/career.

For minor edits simply use the ingame terrain tool.

I don't have a saved game. I have edited the map to my liking before I actually start a career on it. When I finished editing the map and started from scratch the crop is still there.

Then there is still the remaining field definition. All inside this is regarded as "field", also if you paint terrain or place objects inside.
You can delete the field completely or split it into several parts. For that you must know how to create fields in GE, see tutorials.
