There are really enough examples in the default vehicle XMLs.
Search for <rimColorConfigurations ..

Okay but I mean how to you add to the possbility to change to colors of the rims of a tractor which does not have this function. I would like to be able to choosed between different colors in the selection menu ingame.

Impossible for me to find the correct script lines that need to be inserted in the vehicle xml.

SOrry I am a modding beginner !

If the XML file doesn't have this entry, simply add it. A good place is eg. behind the <wheels> section. If you're unsure look for examples in the game default XMLs.
The vehicle should have standard wheels <wheel filename="$data/shared/wheels/..". With custom wheels it might perhaps not work.

Ok thanks it works.
Now, how do you differentiate the inner and the outer rim for the color selection ?

That's not provided by default. You had to use custom wheels/rims and maybe a special/custom LUA script.

Yes noted. It is necessary ti import the rims that you want to change the color of in the mod otherwise same colour applies to both inner and outer rims

You could customize a wheel i3d, put inner rim in a separate colorMat channel then you would customize the wheel xml as well to have for example color 1 color 2. But as far as I know like stated above you would need a script to add 2 selections for wheel color in game still.
