Hello,

GE does not open anymore. Have tried to reinstall it but doesn't change anything.. Have also tried the "maximized" window via the shortcut move, but doesn't work neither..

Any clue ?

Do you use cloud storage like OneDrive or Steam cloud? Then disable it. You should never use such for FS and GE files - all should be on local drives since cloud storage decreases performance significantly and the enhanced access time can lead to read errors.

Jefferson Larue (silver) 25.11.2019 13:29
No I don't use cloud storage. FS and GE are on my C: driver.

Bilbo Beutlin (BBeutlin) 25.11.2019 13:32
What about editor log?

Jefferson Larue (silver) 25.11.2019 13:35
Where can i find the editor log please ?

Will then copy past it here

Bilbo Beutlin (BBeutlin) 25.11.2019 13:38
editor log: {USER}\AppData\Local\GIANTS Editor ...\editor_log.txt

I'd guess a Windows update has overwritten certain system/gfx settings.

Windows rookie, uh? *g*

Go to system settings or open an explorer window. In "folder options" you enable "show hidden files and folders".

EDIT:
ah - you've found it. :)

Is the Intel HD 620 the only GPU on your system? or do you have a dedicated gfx card?

Double-check your most important system and gfx settings. These are often overwritten by a Windows update.

Delete in {USER}\AppData\Local\GIANTS Editor ... the "editor.xml" and all files in folder "shader_cache".
Start a blank GE (without file). If it doesn't start try in admin. mode (run as administrator).

Jefferson Larue (silver) 25.11.2019 14:02
Thanks. Deleting all these files was the remedy.

Best

Disable OneDrive.
I've told you already in 1st post: NEVER use cloud storage like OneDrive, Steam cloud or similar for FS files. The best you don't use it at all. *g*
All should be on local drives. Cloud storage decreases performance significantly, the enhanced access time can lead to read errors.

Jefferson Larue (silver) 26.11.2019 16:19
Didn't even know what OneDrive was (Thx Microsoft for the forcage). I've been trying to find tutorials on how to disable it but would not find it on my PC....any clue where i can find a recent method as I read that at each update of Windows , Mocrosoft makes it more diffculte to disable OneDrive

Bilbo Beutlin (BBeutlin) 26.11.2019 16:42
Simply google for "disable onedrive".
You'll find several guides. At first look for articles of support.microsoft.com/..
