Hi,

It seems that the trackArray texture file from the Claas TT is what shapes the belt, but how would I go about changing that, to match my own tracks?
Is it done in Maya, or can I edit the texture somewhere?

I didn't examine the Claas really, but I'd assume it works like the usual belts. There the visible animation is made by a scroll shader.
So yes - editing the textures should do the job. Perhaps it needs also adjusting the shader parameters.

Yes, but it's the how to edit it that's the problem. I've tried using 3 different image editing Software (photoshop, gimp and paint.net) and all different dds versions, nothing works.

Surely Giants isn't painting these manually, so there must be a way to make them in Maya for instance.

I (and many others I know) would very much like to know how, and it boggles my mind why giants don't release small guides on how to do these things. Shouldn't take one knowledgeable guy more than an hour to write and take necessarily pictures for a guide.

For working on Giants' texture arrays you'll need Photoshop and the according Nvidia DDS plugin.

Warning: not suitable for beginners. ;)

I got some new info, apparently the whole thing is made in Houdini. Now I really think Giants should make some tutorials on this subject, as information is scarse and hard to come by. I think all of us wants 3D tracks on everything, and if it could be done by simply creating a shape, and making the array texture, it doesn't sound too bad. And just use excisting belts (from the TT e.g.)

What you want to do is called UV Mapping.

Kevin Meyhoff-nissen (KevinMn) 06.08.2020 12:31
No it's not, I'm well aware of what UV mapping is. I'm not talking about UVscroll.

If you look at the belt on the 900TT, it's a 10 meter long flat belt, and the shader is using the array texture to shape the belt. I want to know how I can create another array texture, to shape the belt to fit some of my tractors.

I've been trying to figure out how they work for months too, but without the help by Giants I don't think we can do much.
Anyway, there is a modder who I think he made his custom arrays for his mods, for example:
here: https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?lang=en&country=it&mod_id=135423&title=fs2019
and here: https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?lang=en&country=it&mod_id=148886&title=fs2019

They'll never do it sadly

Btw I managed to open and export them in png with the Nvidia Texture Tool

Unfortunately those are using a different track setup. I believe it's an animation made in Maya. Not the new trackArray system.

Lorenzos (lorenzoita) 29.08.2020 16:32
They use a trackArray, as well as the 9rx, the claas vehicles and the default olofsfors tracks.
The only thing that change is the shader and its variation, but if you check both the shaders you'll see that they work in the same way: https://prnt.sc/u811ov

Kevin Meyhoff-nissen (KevinMn) 04.09.2020 16:22
I know there is a trackArray texture within the mod, but if you look at the belt it's using the normal shader, with the motionPath shader variant. They made the animation in Maya I believe. Just like the Olofsfors for the forestry stuff.

Lorenzos (lorenzoita) 05.09.2020 11:41
Claas and John deere tracks use the motionPath shader variation too, as I already said they seem to work in a similar way.
The only thing that change is the behaviour regarding the material, rubber or steel, as it's also said in the shader: https://prnt.sc/ubyz79

By the way, I find this situation very frustrating, should we try to ask directly to Giants somehow? Here it's pretty impossible that we'll get an answer

Does anyone have new information ?

I am not 100% sure this will help but it may at least point you in a direction towards making tracks.
