I'm sure that it won't be too far behind the release. I noticed that Realismus already has a mod in 22 upon release and that mod was exported using editor version 9.01 so now it's just a matter of releasing it to the rest of us. I'm quite sure there are many of us who are just as anxious for the editor as we were for the game! Giants knows and appreciated the value of the modding community so I'm sure they won't keep us waiting too long. Fingers crossed :)

GLS is a new Giants proprietary sound file format relating to vehicle engine sounds that replaces the OGG file format in FS19, and the WAV file format in FS17 and earlier versions back to FS09 for engine sounds modeling. OGG is a lossy format, so I wonder if GLS is lossless, more compressed, or higher quality than OGG. WAV is higher quality than OGG, but lossless, not compressed. I wonder what are the characteristics of GLS, not that it matters because it works beautifully in FS22.

how do i open it?

I would suggest making a new mod vehicle and borrowing or referencing the GLS from some other vehicle in the game. Certainly you can get into a vehicle, start the engine, then drive around and hear all the amazing engine sounds as a proxy for opening the GLS. Any inquiry beyond that like recording the sounds, trying to open them in a sound editor directly, or trying to determine their construction and layout or format I would say definitely ventures into IP rights violation(s). GIANTS T&C 3.4 states: editing, decompiling, disassembling, and reverse engineering are prohibited. Inciting third parties to or aiding and abetting such acts is also prohibited. (ref: TERMS OF USE at the bottom of the https://farming-simulator.com/ website). In sum, do not at all try to open these files directly or attempt to reverse engineer or disassemble.

.gls files can be opened by simply drag and dropping file into Audacity

"GIANTS T&C 3.4 states: editing, decompiling, disassembling, and reverse engineering are prohibited. Inciting third parties to or aiding and abetting such acts is also prohibited"

So using Giants Editor falls into this wide range ?????

I think you'll find in this instance that it refers to the game itself otherwise anybody submitting a mod to the modhub using one of the ingame textures to texture a model (as many have been doing since the beginning )would fall foul of this rule.

Might I also point out this topic in the forum

where the CEO of Giants promises the following

"More Tools like the Debugger, the Loop Loop Synthesis Audio Tool, the Exporters, etc. will follow in the next days."
