Therefore, terrains are drawn more easily, i.e. without jerks! SPLINES
It would appear that selecting the 'E' end of the spline (which I thought denoted the End of the spline) and selecting INSERT on the keyboard the new cv is inserted BUT the gizmo does not move to the new cv location but remains on the previous one requiring the down arrow to be selected before Ctrl B placing of the new cv.
If the down arrow is not selected then subsequent Insertions are placed towards the 'S' cv

However selecting the 'S' cv and selecting INSERT on the keyboard the new cv is inserted and the gizmo moves to the new cv location so not requiring the down arrow to be selected before Ctrl B placing

DOCUMENTATION
Whilst all these 'improvements' are appreciated it would be nice if the documentation was updated to include these new features instead of leaving people to guess/experiment on how they can be used.

Thanks Colin) In fact, these settings are a little confusing, because we get used to the same functions and principles of work, something constantly changes, I struggled for so long until I figured out the intricacies of drawing terrains in the editor version 9.0.3 (I still "took out" the basement under default barn from Elmcreek)., the new functions are really convenient, but there is almost no documentation, and what is there, it is minimal for beginners,
I really laughed at the "play with the settings" response)

Dear friends, the problem of "white" terrains in giant editor 9.0.4. is solved by saving the map in this version of the editor (Version game:1. 9.1.0), but first of all, make backup copies of your projects just in case

The 9.0.4 turns the terrain white in GE, even the base games maps. This update doesn't seem to have been worth it. My latest map that I've spent months on is now ruined. Thanks Giants. Really disappointed

@Mark - You can try to roll back to game version 1.9.0.0 It's been made avalable today, and open it in GE 9.0.3 again.
You might rescue it.
It worked for me. :-)

If your map has a custom terrain shader then you need to update it, go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Farming Simulator 2022\data\shaders
copy the terrainshader.xml
paste it into your map to replace exsisting.terrainShader.xml

I try to open my map, but no map is displayed in the GE, instead the top left corner window always just says start. Then I already updated the terrain shader and it still doesn't work. What could be the problem?

Check path to the terrain shader, if correct check Editor log for errors

when i click the shortcut on ge to open it but then it freezes and says ge is not respnding does it with 9.9.3 and 9.0.4 rolled back the game and still nothing...was working fine befor the update

found the problem the ge folder in the app data folder got ccurupted some how ..to fix it had to uninstall ge then deleate the folder out of the appdata folder then reinstall ge

whenever i open the editor 9.0.4 and save the map the editor freezes for over a minute and eventually crashes out of nowhere.
does anyone have a solution or something i can try?

With the latest update to the game replacing the existing terrain shader with a new version any FS22 maps opened with a previous version of
GE (9.0.1,9.0.2,9.0.3) might not have any terrain visible.
So ensure that your game is updated to 1.9.1.0 and your GE version to 9.0.4

I presume you are talking about foliage if so
Make sure the Foliage Layer Paint Mode is selected (Tree icon)
Open the Foliage Layer Painting Panel (Window -Terrain Editing Foliage Layer Painting)
In the Foliage Layer dropdown select your Foliage --eg grass
In the Layer State dropdown select the crop state --eg harvest ready
With the LMB set to add paint your foliage --RMB to delete

Also check your editor_log.txt for any errors

Bonjour depuis que j'ai essayer de recommencer à modifier mes mods pour moi en pv je n'y arrive plu la 3d du mod n'apparait pas quand je le lance dans le giant editor et je ne m'y connais pas du tout je connais la base des base pour modifier ce que je veux donc j'aurais besoin de votre aide si vous avez la solution

Ps ( La seule chose qui apparait c'est les cercles jaunes et bleu) mais je peux quand même modifier tout les paramètres de l'outil comme part exemples ça largeur ou autres

Traffic spline - Editor crashes and exits when the spline reaches a certain number of points.

I'm having an issue with traffic splines in Giants Editor v9.0.4 (FS22).

I'm working on my 4x map, so the road is larger, requiring a long spline, and the terrain's topography also requires me to place the control vertex (CV) closer together because I use a script to level the terrain according to the spline.

However, when I reach a certain number of control vertex (CV), the program freezes and crashes. I reopen the Editor, select any point, try to add a new control vertice, and it freezes again. Sometimes I can add one or a few control vertices, but it quickly freezes again. Sometimes it freezes just by selecting a control vertice and navigating through them.

The temporary solution I found was to downgrade the Steam version to 1.9.0.0 and use Giants Editor v9.0.3. In this version, I can work with splines without the Editor freezing. I checked the logs, but nothing appears after the Editor crashes.

I believe this is a bug because it doesn't occur in the previous version.

Do you have any problems with the spline you are using to set the terrain height, if not then why not use that spline as your traffic spline (suitably duplicated for two dierections) and create extra short splines for the junctions (as in the base game)

GE 9.0.4 is a bit unstable and does have a tendency to crash at the slightest thing, I have had it crash just by selecting a building on one of the base maps, again with no errors in the log.

What they could implement in GE would be to improve the View Port. Taking it out of OpenGL and putting DirectX. An example would be adding the mode inside preferences. You could select between OpenGL, DirectX (9/10) and DirectX+ (11/12)

I was going to ask the same question. So far, I've found nothing, even on YouTube. I think I know what it does, but how is the question. I know it involves masks in png format, like in the data folder. I think you can set up painting scenarios, and schemes, to where it randomizes the placement of groups of textures or foliage in a pattern, like the terrain mesh painting function, but instead of one, you can have many different textures or foliage. This would be handy, to say the least.

Unfortunately unless (and until) Giants release the documentation for this "terrain procedural placement layer paint mode" and the other new functions all we can do at the moment is experiment with various masks and textures/foliage and see what happens

I am having an issues after installing Giants Editor 9.0.4, it loaded a mod from the game the first time, and after i closed that one and went open a new one, it crashed, i reopened and now in the left hand corner it shows Starting and will crash anytime i try to open a mod from FS22. Any help would be appreciated. I have verified that my path to FS22 is correct.

GE 9.0.4 I'm not able to left click to select an item like a tree. I don't remember how to correct this problem in a previous versions when this happened. I think it had to do with a navmesh setting. PLEASE HELP

Click on the View menu, then Selectable.
Everything but Terrain is usually already checked.
At the very least, you'll need Meshes

The GE displays the background as black with images created with paint.net, despite transparent image settings

If you are saving the image as a png paint.net only saves as an indexed colour you will need to use Gimp or other software to save as rgb png.

I have a problem to create a new farmland in GE, painting a new layer does not work. On the map Somwhere_in_Thuringia_III I wanted to change to be able to purchase land that was previously unavailable, which I managed to do, but I can't use that land and farm it, even though it is purchased. The main problem is that no new layer painting works for me. And I do not know what I can do, I have tried many ways to fix it, but none of them worked, also watching tutorials did not help. After the new update I experienced such problems, because on the old version when I managed to change it without any problems, and now using the same tutorial it did not work.(I also tried now to change it on a map where I once succeeded but now it didn't work either)
