Can withering be turned off, I realize you can turn this off in a savegame but I was windering if it can be done so that withering is off when you start a new game.

Hi,

you can change the setting for withering in the "ingame menu".

- start a game
- press ESC
- toggle to the right (from INFO to SETTINGS)
- adjust the option ;)

Cheers,
Emil

Yes as I said I know how to stop withering in a saved game, but my question was can I do that so withering is off for the start of the game, this used to be adjustable in the game settings but that seems to be gone now.

Where is the problem? You can set the withering in game options immediately at game start. As well as time factor, growth speed, mission frequency, etc.
The withering option is saved separately for each game in "careerSavegame.xml" -> isPlantWitheringEnabled=".."

But maybe a mod/map has a custom script to enable/disable withering. In this case the game option may not work - since there are different methods to disable withering.

I never said there was a problem did I?

I asked a perfectly sensible and relevant question, I do not expect people to come on here and have a go at me for it!

As I have said previously I know you can set withering off in a saved game, what I wanted to know was can I set it to off when making a map so that it is off from the start of the game, you need to read peoples questions Bilbo before having a pop at them!

sorry bumped the message so deleted it

"I asked a perfectly sensible and relevant question"
No - you didn't. You have written you know about turning off "in a savegame". That's the XML tag 'isPlantWitheringEnabled'.
And you asked how to turn off "when you start a new game". So what's wrong with the reference to the game options?

So a "perfectly sensible and relevant question" was in your second post: how to turn off "when making a map".
Though I don't see a reason, because it's easily done in the game options: you have to use a custom lua script, either a global script which turns withering off at all - or one applied to a certain map, perhaps embedded directly in the (map).lua.
There are already several no-withering mods around, you could use these scripts - or take them as example/template. Also FS13 scripts should still work.
However there are several different methods and I don't know exactly which one FS15 uses (in the game options).

Hi,

personally I would recommend (the menu as mentioned above or) using a mod to disable the withering:
http://ls-mods.de/download.php?hash=f6301ce1fe8a8454e057565efc34a16a&language=en

To disable the withering directly in a map is possible but absolutely not recommended.
Why?
Some players surely want to enjoy the challenge of withering on your map.

Cheers,
Emil

You are dead right mate, althougfh I seemed to have wanted the withering off as default for a released game I did not really (I must learn to be more concise in my messages, sorry my fault entirely) what I wanted it for was for testing purposes only, I would never turn off withering on a released map as I would probably get etherically linched by anyone who downloaded it. Sorry for my vagueness I will try and be more clear in my next questions. :)
