I have deleted and reinstalled the editor a number of times now, I am running windows 8.1
and the last thing I was doing today when it crashed was scrolling the camera across the map

I also am having problems with GE 6.0.3, but I get random crashes, if I work on a map for an extened period without saving, the editor randomly crashes when I do eventually save, if I load up the map again and try THE SAME THINGS, but this time saving every few minutes I do not get crashes, okay this is a workaround but saving every few minutes is tedious at best, and when embroiled in what you are doing it is easy to forget to save that often. I think Giants need to look at this editor as it seems to be bugged.

my 64bit wont even let me open anything it crashes at start up, I don't know haw to fix it but any help would be great

Emil Drefers (Unknown) 20.07.2015 08:25
Hi,

if the GIANTS Editor does not even start up correctly you have to check if you have a graphics card which is not supported by the editor.
This is for example most likely the case if you have a laptop with an 'onboard gpu'.

Please append your log.txt file next time you post something about that error.

Cheers,
Emil

I just downloaded GE 6.0.3 64bit now giants editor will not open. I tried to open a file on it and immediately a window pops up saying Giants Editor 6.0.3 has stopped working. I have been using the GE 6.0.3 - 32bit but my system can run the 64bit program. Has anyone else ran into this and if so have did you fix this problem? I have also checked the log and here it is:

Got it working thanks for the help - I had to update my graphics card drivers

Andrew Chlad (Unknown) 12.08.2015 18:29
hi I am new to this and was hoping to make my very first mad so I downloaded everything I needed and when I open giants editor I keep getting a message that says giants editor is not responding and then the screen goes a shade of grey and wont let me do a thing except close it any help would be appreciated. thanks

Emil Drefers (Unknown) 13.08.2015 08:41
Hi,

please check the posts above.

-> update gpu drivers
-> post the lines of your log.txt which show the render System

In the end nothing might help if you don't have a gpu which fully supports OpenGL.

Cheers,
Emil

I'm having the same problem as above. I've already updated my graphics driver, cleaned cache and temp files. I works fine with the small tutorial map that was downloaded when GE was first installed but the editor will crash when trying to open a modded game map. I'm using Win 8 64bit on a laptop. It runs the game fine but may not be enough for the editor.
Below is the editor log entries, Thanks for any help

Hi,

makes me wonder why "small maps" do work in your case.

But anyhow ...
you have an onboard graphics card: "Renderer: Intel(R) HD Graphics 460", which is no good for the GIANTS Editor.

The GIANTS Editor only works with graphics cards which support OpenGL up to a certain level.
But the game itself can switch to DirectX (which the Editor can't do).
That's why the game might run, but the editor crashes.

Sorry for that ...

If you have another graphics card in your system try to enforce the usage of it (graphics card driver shoudl allow that).

Cheers,
Emil

hi

On my laptop frequently use Giant Editor with my HD 4600 and i never got any problem:

so it should be the same for Dan laptop which is almost same as mine, and Intel divers are the same for Windows 7 64 bits i use than for Widows 8 he uses

the open GL of 4.2 or 4.3 is good enough gor GE and as you can see i load a map which is a X4 map without any problems just the loadding time is longer than a standard map.

Emil Drefers (Unknown) 26.08.2015 14:15
Hi,

interesting.

Well, the drivers are a bit older in Dan's case:
Version: 4.2.0 - Build 10.18.10.4061
Shader Version: 4.20 - Build 10.18.10.4061

So, Dan could you try to update the drivers?

If it does not work afterwards I would expect an error in the map or the map being from FS13.

Cheers,
Emil

Dan Lanter (Unknown) 27.08.2015 11:12
I updated the drivers right before posting here and no change. The 2 maps that I tried this on are both recent releases so yes they are from FS15, not sure about error in the map. I tried the editor on one of the default FS maps and it works fine.

I'll post to the support forum of the map I'm trying to work with to see if anyone else is having this problem.

Hi, I'm trying to modify a map with Giants Editor but when I open the program does not show me the map image, only a gray screen, someone knows why ???? I hope and help

Frank Leeskay (bulicious) 08.09.2015 10:57
Same here, since Win10pro upgrade from win8.1. the editor crashes every 5minutes. when i try to import an object, the editor crash.

nvidia driver 552.82 @ gtx 660ti 3gb on intel i5 4670k.

now i tryed to use the 32bit version an it seems to solve the problem for 10minutes more. editor crashes now after working ~10minutes. importing object worked also.

Wilhelm Lindroth (Unknown) 08.09.2015 19:56
I got the same problem, when I try to save a map GE usually crashes. It also crashes quite often when I open a map.

last Nvidia Driver for a GT320 is :

GeForce 341.81 Driver

Version: 341.81
Date de réalisation: 2015.8.24
Système d’exploitation: Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 8.1 32-bit, Windows 8 32-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit

so you should update

Wilhelm Lindroth (Unknown) 09.09.2015 20:12
Thanks, will try that. Didn't notice it could be updated...
