| I do this; open editor from 4.1.2 export model to where you want it. Open 4.1.7 import said model. The way I do it, cause I have a lot of 2009 models on my map. I will use Zippo's Silos as an example; First, copy or extract the new silos to C:\Users\USER\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2011\mods\models\buildings\Silos Open 4.1.2 import Silos.i3d, now export that same model (you can use same name or different) to above location. You can close editor 4.1.2, but I never do, since I have more than one model to export. Open 4.1.7 open your map, import from location above Silos.i3d. It should now work.
