So I've been having an issue with the editor recently and I'm not entirely sure what's causing it, it makes no sense to me at all. I've been working on a map for roughly a year now and after downloading 7.1.0 my save times skyrocketed to 3-10 MINUTES from just 6-12 seconds before. My PC more than meets the minimum requirements for running FS17 as well as GE, so it's (presumably) not a hardware issue.

Here's the thing that really confuses me: The save issue only happens once I've shut my PC down and booted it up again. If I install GE 7.0.5 I get my wonderful 6 second save time back, but only for a day. Once my PC reboots it's back to multiple minutes of saving while GE is non-responsive. If I go with 7.1.0 I get the same response. I've never seen this happen with any program before, and it's only started happening since I initially downloaded GE 7.1.0.

I've run through various suggestions from different forums like uninstalling every other version of GE I have, downloading 7.1.0 and rebooting my pc(!!), defragmenting my main hard drive etc, but nothing seems to resolve the issue except literally uninstalling the editor when I'm finished working with it for the day and reinstalling it the next day. While it's a solution, it's not really a practical one just because of the time taken to uninstall and reinstall GE every day. Likewise, just accepting every save is going to be multiple minutes won't work because, like everyone else here, my time is very limited and sitting waiting for 5-10 minutes every time I hit save is a nonsensical option.

I can't be the only person experiencing this issue, so if you've had this yourself and fixed it HOW DID YOU DO IT?!! Any advice is welcome, I just want to get to the bottom of this bizarre issue with either GE or my PC...it makes no sense at all

You didn't tell us, which OS you use. Windows 10? Then be prepared for awkward surprises. *g*
Just the latest "Creators Update" caused trouble on some systems.

What kind of anti-malware program do you use? Windows Defender? Windows Security Essentials? Another Antivirus?
If you use more than one live/online AV, could be they constrain each other, what results in delayed file access.
Anyway you should take the GE and your work directories into the AV's exclude lists.

It's also a good idea to install the GE not in "C:\program..", but in a neutral directory which isn't supervised by Win UAC/DEP.

Also be sure to store your user datas on your local computer, not in cloud storage.

I am using Windows 10 yes, but speaking to others who also use Win10 they have no issues at all, even with the "Creators Update".

I use Avast antivirus, which has never caused any issues in multiple years of use and has never interacted with GE in the past.

I always work using local files, so it's not an issue with any upload/download issues or cloud storage at all. I'm completely clueless as to what it might be, I've ruled almost all potential issues out through trial and error yet the problem persists!

Do you have this behavior with other mods/maps also?
The GE doesn't like spaces or non-ASCII characters in labels, descriptors, attributes.

Where do you save your datas? Somewhere in your user folder? Then try a neutral directory which isn't touched by Win UAC.
Also try running the GE "as administrator". Does it change something?
