Hello community.

in Giants Editor 7.1.0 there is a flag called "Shared-Editiing Mode" for material editing. What is the effect of this flag?

I cannot notice any change whether it is set or not. I'm asking because I'm looking for a method in changing materials easier. I have several same models in my map and want to change the diffuse texture of just one. I'm not familiar with any CAD program so i have to change the material directly in the map01.i3d via text editor. Is there an easier way to do this in the Giants Editor?

Everytime I have sloped streets, I'm struggling with terrain editing, espicially with the edge of the streets. Is there a function to autofill the terrain to the border of the street? Or is this a task requiring great diligence?

The way I did it is build the ground up and use the smooth function. I gave up making my own map because of issues like that. I'm not that advanced to tackle that and other issues like meshes and making triggers.

Adapting the terrain to streets is simple if the streets are plane, don't have rotation in x,z.
Set the height level to a fixed, fitting value and use the replace modus. Afterwards smooth the surrounding terrain.
If the streets have an inclination do this in steps with various height values.

"shared editing" executes an operation on ALL similiar objects. If the switch is off, only on the selected object.

I solved the street problem with a re-design of my streets models. The edge is now more vertical. It was just a simple change but it is much more satisfying now and terrain sculpting is a lot easier.

I duplicated an object, removed the shared editing flag, changed e.g. the diffuse color of the duplicat, but the change was made to both objects. Or did I misunderstood the function?

Yes - it's not EXACTLY performed as one would expect.
If you edit a material, the changes are applied to THIS material, also if it is used by other objects.
To avoid this, you must assign to the object a unique material. But unluckily not doable easily in the GE (a missing feature). Anyway doable by XML (with the i3d in text editor).
