the new editor sucks it requires opengl 4.5 which my laptop doesn't support I am so pissed off

Bilbo Beutlin (BBeutlin) 11.12.2018 13:40
And? OpenGL 4.5 is released 2014.
Be happy that the FS game runs on older rigs.
Laptops are always a bad choice for games if you can't upgrade the gfx card.

my giants editor 8.1.0 close in 10 seconds
don't work
solutions please

Bilbo Beutlin (BBeutlin) 15.12.2018 14:27
No details - no solution. Do you think, here are clairvoyants?
What about the GE log? -> USER\AppData\Local\GIANTS Editor 64bit 8.xx\editor_log.txt
Which i3d do you want to open?

Tj Brammer (Unknown) 16.12.2018 04:45
I've been having this issue for a while, and I'm tired of it. I downloaded the 8.1.0 beta off of this site and I apparently got the 8.0 version with the recent update (because it wasn't included with my disk for some reason), and both versions close in a few seconds, even if I'm opening a blank GE page. I can't find a log (like the previous post stated), nor anything else to look for to remedy the issue. Can anyone help me out?

C:\Users\your computer\AppData\Local\GIANTS Editor 64bit 8.1.0\editor_log.txt

Under your computer as it appears C:\Users. It takes you to where your My Documents folder is and you'll see the AppData folder there too.

@Adam Error: GLSL version 4.50 or better is required. Your version is 4.40 tells you why

The Radeon R5 Graphics was an integrated graphics solution by AMD, launched in June 2014. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Beema graphics processor, the device supports DirectX 12.0. It features 128 shading units, 8 texture mapping units and 4 ROPs. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 800 MHz.Time to upgrade 4 years is a lifetime in computer years

Tj Brammer (Unknown) 17.12.2018 23:10
Okay, so I checked my log and my computer. I got the same log as the aforementioned and my Open GL is version 4.5. Yet, Giants editor still opens and shuts down instantly. Is there anything I can do?

Bilbo Beutlin (BBeutlin) 18.12.2018 02:15
You have the same log as above? I don't believe - that would mean you have the same system.

If you are absolutely sure your GPU supports OpenGL 4.5, try updating your gfx driver.

Tj Brammer (Unknown) 18.12.2018 04:22
My log is similar (my apologies for any misunderstandings) and the log says I have GLSL Version 4.40, but when I go into my graphics settings on my computer, it says "OpenGL version: 4.5." I'm going to try to update the driver. If that doesn't work, would reinstalling Giant's editor do anything?

David Brown (mrscsi) 18.12.2018 04:59
Some graphics cards or chipsets can be updated and some can't if the Giants log is telling you you have 4.40, that is telling me that is what your video card or chipsets is reporting to Giants editor

The GE checks the gfx driver - not directly the GPU.
So it can be, an obsolete driver has not implemented OpenGL 4.5 yet, though the GPU was capable.
It can also be, a dual GPU system (integrated GPU and dedicated gfx card) has by default the iGPU activated and doesn't switch to the dedicated automatically. Then it must be forced in the system or gfx driver settings.

Good day! Tell me what can be with GE 8? After starting immediately freezes, can not close, in the middle of the window displays the desktop and tabs. There is no application event log at all!? Any leads? GE 7.1.0 worked without problems!

USER\AppData\Local\GIANTS Editor 64bit 8.0.0 - next folder script and all the log no!

Bilbo Beutlin (BBeutlin) 23.12.2018 18:54
At first you should install the latest GE 8.1 , available here on downloads.
Install with full admin. rights : right click on setup -> run as adminstrator

Open a blank GE (without file), open console window or check the GE log.
If problems occur, run the GE in admin. mode

I am having problems getting GE working for FS19 I have tried all 8.0, 8.1 and Beta versions, GE opens and runs for about 5 seconds and then closes, not sure what going on, any help would be much appreciated on this matter. Nobody seems to have any solutions or what I can do to get it working. I have included my systems operating info if that would help give me some answers to the problem I am having. I find it frustrating as GE worked for FS15, FS17 but refuses to work for FS19, HELP

That's NOT the editor log (location see above).
If you're sure your GPU supports OpenGL 4.5 try updating your gfx driver.
Try also disabling cloud storage for user folders or run the GE in admin. mode.
For first tries open a blank GE (without file).
