Hello,

Wondering if it's possible to setup traffic splines to only take a particular vehicle/i3d?

For example, was considering setting up a spline - with start/end points near/overlapping another spline loop - which takes only the cement trucks from their main loop through a "cement refilling station", before feeding them back onto the main loop again...

Thanks

Yes - you can assign each spline an individual "trafficSystem.xml".

Ok, that's an idea - thanks heap Bilbo (noticed you provide loads of info on this forum, very much appreciate it).

Anyone know how to open the train spline so I can edit it? It used to be o in 17 but I can't get it to open in 19

You can't edit directly on map.
The spline is inserted by the "defaultItems.xml".
The location is "data/placeables/mapXX/trainSystem/trainsystem.i3d".

Right but how do I change the path of the spline. In otherwords, I can put the train spline in the map, but since the land contours are different, how do I edit the spline to the land? I used to just open the spline and lay it out then close it.

You could simply import the i3d into map.
Certainly you must select the right i3d according to mapDE or mapUS. Then it fits exactly into terrain.
The affected XMLs must be adapted.

If you edit the spline, you can use the GE script "set terrain height by spline".

FYI Bilbo,

Used your suggestion for the traffic.xml. :)

The vehicles on my map have had an increase in top speed, cars travel at 60km/h and trucks 54km/h. This required editing all the vehicles i3d and increasing the x and z values and modifying positions of the collision triggers to increase braking distances(!!) and, also setting collision flag 12 (13, 20 and 25 appear the usual).

Now have two way traffic with many seperate car and truck loops. Using 'maxSpeedScale' on various splines allows the trucks to drive off the main loop and drive slowly through various map sections (like they're loading/unloading), then re-enter the main loop area at a more appropriate speed. This also gives the faster travelling cars a break from going slow, kinda randomising and making the traffic feel more "real". Would like to know how to restrict the actual number of vehicles spawned on a spline though.

Have also set pedestrian paths so they walk across the pedestrian crossings, although I'm not sure how to set a collision on the pedestrians so the traffic stops for them. And the pedestrians also go bush walking (some in suits still)...

Often find myself just watching the traffic drive by! LOL!! :) :)

Thanks
