|New to editing and was having trouble saving an edited id3 map file. Kept get a "error while saving id3 file".
After three days of searching for an answer I've managed to figure out the problem.
I am also a new user to Windows 10. And the problem was Windows Defender, the Controlled Folder Access to be exact. It was blocking any changes to the files and I wasn't being alerted by defender.
So if you run into this situation, look at your defender block history and allow defender to make changes.

|You should NEVER use desktop for editing, also if it's often recommanded. The desktop folder is secured by Windows UAC and the GE doesn't have write access by default. Instead use a neutral folder on local drive which is not supervised by Windows UAC/DEP.
Temporarily you can avoid the problem by starting the GE (with rightclick) "run as administrator".
