Brand new... I'm trying to learn foliage texture editing. Is there a way to discover the texture name of an existing area? I see the Ctrl-R picker but it doesn't seem to do anything. |

Ctrl-R is for replace pick a terrain height. There is no default function to identify a certain terrain or foliage texture. But you may write your own custom GE script to get the values of a selected point. However a little tricky, since several density maps are used. |

Thanks! Is there any visibility in the editor as to texture layers? I suggest the edit program add a feature to give a report of all objects intersecting the clicked point. |

Don't forget, the editor is a tool created from and for Giants developers. They will barely have the need to examine foreign maps. And what isn't needed, will not become implemented. ;) However with the GE script ability experienced users can write their own scripts for nearly all purposes. |
