|Please excuse me if i missunderstood the effects of increasing the number of lands. I have increased to 255 layers and assumed from the maths 255 would be a locked layer and not sellable. My first question is, is this the case as i can not find absolute docs? My second would obviously be if not could you please tell which layer would be at 255, and how the bits got you there if possible.

|The GE 'locks' the highest number (all bits set), it is not selectable in the pull-down menu.
But you can still use it by manually setting (ticking) the channels in bitmask.

|Thank you Bilbo for the response. "Screenshot included" https://shawndageek.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/2020-06-24-12_38_55-Greenshot-2.png
As you can see i am able to set bits to 255 and paint, it is just not acting as expected, it is still sellable lands and breaks vehicle sell points. No layers seem to be locking.

|hmm .. I didn't notice so far, perhaps changed with GE 8.2 resp. latest game update.
In general farmland 0 is/was the non-buyable, no-farmland terrain.
Though it was usual also to use the highest number for reserved, special purposes.
Anyway, it's not documented, what means we have to guess 'til an official statement. *g*
